General Purpose:

Under the direction of the Administrator, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the facility as prescribed by established standards, the state licensing body and the facility’s governing body.

Essential Job Functions:

    • Administrative Function : Directly reports to the Administrator.

    • Essential Functions of the job: Performs and directs the maintenance operations to achieve the prescribed standard of maintenance and sanitation in the facility and on the facility’s property. Instructs, supervises and enforces prescribed cleaning and general maintenance techniques and procedures. Maintains supplies and requisitions additional supplies pursuant to the department’s policies and procedures. Attends facility meetings as directed by the Administrator. Maintains required records. Establishes and maintains maintenance work schedules. Promotes a safe environment within the facility including the instruction, supervision and enforcement of the facility’s safe work practices and the use of any safety equipment provided for the job. Maintains a routine preventive maintenance program for equipment provided for the job. Performs minor repairs as needed to keep building and equipment items in good working condition. Aids in monitoring building and equipment renovation, remodeling, replacement or expansion projects done by an outside contractor. Maintains plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Makes rounds to discover needed repairs.

    • Training: Attends all required in-service training.

    • Resident’s Rights Functions: Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding resident’s rights.

    • Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Walking, reaching, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures. Ability to take instructions and follow through pleasantly and competently, often under a limited time schedule. Adheres to the facility’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program and consistently performs job duties in accordance with the facility’s safe work practices. Ability to read and write English, communicate with residents and personnel. Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write and follow verbal instructions and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

    • Must have a cleared fingerprint record obtained from the Department of Justice as required by Community Care Licensing.
